Council's Continued Holy Angels Study Session Cancelled

And other things the people of Richfield should know this week.

The Richfield City Council's special Tuesday night study session regarding the possible plans for the Academy of Holy Angels to sell a part of its front lawn to a developer has been cancelled.

According to Lucas Johnson, media coordinator for the City of Richfield, Holy Angels representatives notified the city last Thursday afternoon that it would like to table the discussion until the school reaches a final agreement with the potential land purchaser. The discussion was to be a continuation of the Nov. 26 work session where the city council and Holy Angels discussed the project together for the first time.

A developer has offered the private school almost $6 million—about six times more than the assessed value—for a strip of land along Nicollet Avenue at 66th Street for retail development.

Another date for discussion has not been set, according to Johnson. The council will still hold its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at city hall.
