Holy Angels Football Improves To 3-0

Stars claim second shutout of season, 36-0, in home opener last Friday.

A second shutout victory in three games for the football team highlighted the weekend schedule as the Stars won big in their home opener on Friday.

Holy Angels Football

boosted the Holy Angels football team to 3-0 on the season and gave the Stars a positive scoring differential of 113-20 thus far.

Holy Angels posted two defensive touchdowns, logged by TJ Patrias and Aammir Freese, to go with three offensive scores on the ground from Will Pagel, Sam Keis and Mikias Alipate in the win.

The Stars head back out on the road with a game at conference foe Chanhassen at 7 p.m. Friday night.

Richfield Boys Soccer

Two straight losses to private school opponents to close out last week dropped the to 1-7 on the season.

The Spartans lost 2-1 at St. Thomas Academy in overtime last Thursday, then fell 5-1 to Minnehaha Academy on Saturday.

Carlos Quechuleno scored for Richfield against STA, while Obsa Ali netted the Spartans tally versus MA.

Richfield plays at South St. Paul—ranked 10th in Class A—on Thursday night at 7 p.m.

Holy Angels Boys Soccer

Sam Brenny netted a hat trick with three goals for the Holy Angels boys soccer team as the Stars shut out New Prague 12-0 last Thursday.

Alex Czachor also scored twice for Holy Angels, with goalkeepers Danny Urzua and Adam Roloff sharing the shutout. 

The Stars—now 3-1-3 this year—host the No. 1-ranked team in Class A, Benilde-St. Margaret's, at 7 p.m. Saturday night.

Richfield Volleyball

A 3-0 loss to visiting North St. Paul last Thursday dropped the 's record to 5-4 as it entered this week.

Individual statistics were not made available. The Spartans host an invitational tournament beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday morning.

Holy Angels Girls Soccer

Bridget Schoffman claimed a hat trick, with Courtney Moynihan scoring twice as the Holy Angels girls soccer team shutout New Prague 11-0 last Thursday.

Stars goalies Danielle Mendez and Julia Zappa split the shutout as tenth-ranked Holy Angels improved to 4-2-1 entering this week. The Stars play at No. 7 Visitation at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Richfield Girls Soccer

The Richfield girls soccer team fell to 0-5 with a 5-0 loss to visiting Hill-Murray last Thursday.

Individual statistics were not made available. The Spartans play at South St. Paul at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Holy Angels Volleyball

The Holy Angels volleyball team swept Park, 3-0, on Monday to improve to 5-6 on the season. 

Individual statistics were not made available. The Stars play at Chanhassen—the ninth-ranked team in Class AAA—at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Richfield Girls Tennis

The Richfield girls tennis team lost 4-3 to Henry Sibley last Thursday. Individual statistics were not made available.

Scores and statistics regarding the Richfield and Holy Angels girls swim/dive teams, as well as the Stars girls tennis squad, were not made available.
