Where to Volunteer in Richfield this Holiday Season

There are a variety of places in town that could use some extra hands.

If you're looking to give a little of your time to volunteering this holiday season, look no further than organizations right here in Richfield.

The following are just some of the organizations always looking for help:

Loaves & Fishes


This program provides free meals to the hungry in the Twin Cities metro. Anyone can go to one of the 13 metro area locations for a meal with no questions asked.

How to volunteer:

Location: There are 13 throughout the Twin Cities metro. The Richfield location is at Hope Presbyterian Church, 7132 Portland Ave. S.

Arc's Value Village


The Arc is a nonprofit organization. As Arc’s Value Village grows, so does our community impact. Last year, stores generated more than $2 million for The Arc Greater Twin Cities’ programs that help adults and children with disabilities and surrounding communities.

How to volunteer:
Call the volunteer manager at 952-915-3652. For more information on volunteering, go to arcsvaluevillage.org/volunteer.

Location: 6528 Penn Ave. S. 

VEAP


VEAP (Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People) provides a variety of services to the Richfield, Bloomington, Edina and South Minneapolis communities.

How to volunteer: All new volunteers are required to attend an informational meeting before getting approved. Sign up for an upcoming meeting at veapvolunteers.org/volunteer/register-for-an-informational-meeting. For more information, go to veapvolunteers.org/volunteer, for contact the volunteer director at 952-888-9616.

Location: 9728 Irving Ave. S. in Bloomington.

Richfield Recreation's AR&LE Ski/Snowboard Program


The annual winter program teaches individuals with developmental disabilities to ski or snowboard at Hyland Hills.


How to volunteer: A volunteer application, waiver and background check is required. For more information, contact Ann Hoffer at 612-861-9361 or ahoffer@cityofrichfield.org.

Location: The Richfield Recreation Services Department is located at the Richfield Community Center, 7000 Nicollet Ave. S. The program takes place at Hyland Hills, 8800 Chalet Rd. in Bloomington.

Meals on Wheels


This program delivers meals to low-income seniors in Richfield and throughout the Twin Cities Metro.

How to volunteer: Sign up as a volunteer online at meals-on-wheels.com/volunteer-meals-wheels.

Location: Offices are located 1200 Washington Ave. S., Suite 380 in Minneapolis.

Living Well Disability Services - Hockey Volunteer


Living Well Disability Services delivers services to people impacted by intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities. They provide a variety of program opportunities, including learning hockey in Richfield.

Location: Offices are located at 680 O'Neill Dr. in Eagan. The hockey volunteer program is located at Richfield Ice Arena.
