Body Recovered from River ID'd as WI Teen Who Jumped From Stone Arch Bridge

A female's body was found around 11 a.m. Wednesday morning near Fort Snelling.

A 16-year-old Roberts, WI high school student has been identified as the body pulled from the Mississippi River near Fort Snelling earlier this week.

Erika Renee Borgstrom died as the result of a freshwater drowning, according to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner. Her death was ruled a suicide.

Borgstrom, a sophomore at St. Croix Central High School, jumped off the Stone Arch Bridge in Minneapolis with her boyfriend, senior Dakotah Coach, on May 14. Coach's body was reportedly found Tuesday, May 21. 

According to the Star Tribune,  the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office said witnesses saw two people jumping from the bridge at about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 14. The jumpers were lated identified as Borgstrom and Coach. The school district said the teens "will be missed greatly by all who knew them," the Star Tribune reported.

Borgstrom's body was discovered after a fisherman reported that he saw body entangled in a tree in the channel of the river Wednesday.
