The Stars hope to get revenge on Red Wing for last year’s loss. Both teams move up from Class AA to Class AAA. Holy Angels moves from to Section 4AA to Section 3AAA this season, while the Wingers went from Section 1AA to 1AAA. The Star’ 1-3 record is deceiving as all three losses were in five sets. Red Wing finished 2-2 in this weekend’s Irondale Tournament.

Players to Watch
Lara Holley—Holy Angels setter

  • Holley has been asked to carry more of a leader role with the loss of co-captains and outside hitters Emily Ness and Amanda King.

Abby Ulveling—Red Wing outsdie hitter

  • Ulveling served seven straight points in last Thursday’s conference win comeback win over Farmington. Red Wing lost the first two sets and was down 14-9 in the final set before Ulveling’s heroics.

Spartans will win if ...

They can get strong play from their seniors as the Stars are returning just two of their top 11 players from last year.

Polars will win if ...

They can build on what Red Wing head coach Neal Newman called one of the most dramatic victories he has seen in his 29 years of coaching against Farmington.
