The Academy of Holy Angels boys varsity hockey team beat the Northfield Raiders 4-0 Tuesday night in a fast-paced game played at the Northfield Ice Arena.
The Stars scored three times in the second period with goals from Cullen Hurley, Joseph LaBate and Connor Hurley. CJ Smith added another goal in the third period.
And despite four goals by Holy Angels, the most exciting part of the game happened eight minutes into the first period.
As Northfield carried the puck through the neutral zone, Raiders forward Alex Knight was checked, fell backwards, and put his right skate through a panel of glass, shattering it. The game stopped for about 20 minutes as the panel was replaced.
Stars goaltender Brett Pierce made 26 saves in the shutout. Holy Angels had 36 shots.
Holy Angel's record improved to 6-3. The team next plays Thursday against Chaska.
