Richfield Students Raise More Than $2K for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

Richfield Dual Language School's annual Pennies for Patients drive turns out to be a success.

(RDLS) teacher Melissa Campaña and first graders Eva Patenaud & Alex Dominguez presented Kelly Fegley of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society with a check for $2,468.37 on behalf of all the children of the school last Wednesday.

Students collected coins for six weeks during their annual campaign, which aims to help fund research and assist patients and families fighting leukemia and lymphoma.

For meeting their goal of raising $2,012 in 2012 the whole school got to spend Leap Day in their pajamas. This is the fourth year RDLS has participated in Pennies for Patients and the second year raising over $2,000. Sra. Myriam Castro's first-grade collected the most, raising $315.06 and winning a pizza party. Sra. Alicia Brynildson's first-graders also raised $300.
