Richfield Students' Art Up For Awards at Minnesota State Fair

Results will begin trickling in at 8 a.m. Thursday morning.

Several and two students are waiting to see if they have been selected as a winners or honorable mentions in the Minnesota State Fair's Education Competition.

The competition features students' work in kindergarten through Grade 12. According to Amy Winter, Sheridan Hills art teacher, she collected works throughout the 2010-11 school year and summer to submit to the competition.

The following is a list of students who are entered in the Individual Exhibits competition:

  • Zippy Hockett, Grade 1;
  • Irene Vargas Jaimes, Grade 1;
  • Ulisses Tepozteco Ramal, Grade 1 (Centennial Elementary);
  • Martaize Grant, Grade 2;
  • Rafael Estrada Campos, Grade 2;

Winter said 2010 was her first year entering students' work, with one student placing third and three others receiving honorable mentions.

The winners should be announced as they become available Thursday morning, according to the fair's website. All student work that places will be on display throughout the 10 days of the fair and Sheridan Hills will also display the works following the fair.
