The Tom Spooner Award is given annually by our school to the Best Male Student-Athlete at Richfield as chosen by our Head Coaches.

Tom Spooner was a baseball player back in the late '50s and early 60's who died from Leukemia but was exemplary in his attitude on and off the field. In the minds of his family, friends and doctor, it was his fighting desire to play baseball. It was his determination in spite of unconquerable odds against the future. Tom was an outstanding player in the Babe Ruth league, and an inspiration for American youth!
