Richfield Representatives' Bills Move Through Legislative System

Here’s what happened this past week with bills authored or co-authored by Richfield's legislative representatives:

State Rep. Linda Slocum (DFL-Richfield)

  • Slocum was added as an author to a bill that established a sex offender policy task force April 27. On the same day, the bill was referred to the Government Operations and Elections Committee. The committee's second reading of the bill occurred May 2 and the most recent action taken.
  • Slocum was added as an author to a bill that would require producers of childrens products to report harmful chemicals May 2.
  • Slocum was added as an author to a bill that would prohibit the sale or purchase of products containing arsenic. The bill aims to reduce human exposure to the toxic chemical.
  • Slocum was also added to a bill May 4 that was introduced May 2. HF1625 would extend the expiring school district referendum by two years.

House Minority Leader Paul Thissen (DFL-Minneapolis)

  • Thissen was added to a bill that would provide funding for the Phillips Communtiy Center swimming pool April 26. On May 4 the bill was motioned to be recalled and re-referred to another committee; the motion prevailed.

State Sen. Ken Kelash (DFL-Richfield)

  • SF0953, which was authored by Kelash and would provide transitional activites and terminate a neighborhood revitalization program, was recommended to pass by the Local Government and Elections Committee and had its second reading May 2.
