Richfield Legislators: Hemp & More Money Appropriations

Here’s what happened this past week with some of the bills authored or co-authored by Richfield's legislative representatives:

House Minority Leader Paul Thissen (DFL- Minneapolis)

  • Co-authored a bill appropriating money to continue a demonstration project for high-risk adults. HF1182 was introduced March 17 and was referred to the Public Safety and Crime Prevention and Policy and Finance Committee the same day.

State Rep. Slocum (DFL- Richfield)

  • Co-authored HF1182, along with Thissen.
  • Co-authored a bill modifying funds for the Old Cedar Avenue Bridge project. HF1055 was introduced on March 14 and referred to the Capitol Investment Committee.
  • Co-authored a bill clarifying probationary and continuing contract teachers' professional development and evaluation requirements.
  • Co-authored a bill allowing minors to file orders of protection on their own behalf.

State Sen. Ken Kelash (DFL-Richfield)

  • Co-authored a bill that would establish a regulated hemp industry. SF0826 was introduced on March 16 and referred to the Agriculture and Rural Economies Committee the same day.
  • Co-authored a bill that appropriated funds for regional parks and maintenance on those parks.
