Stolen Cars, Vending Machine Break-In & DWIs: Police Blotter

The Richfield Public Safety Department releases its most recent crime reports.

All the following information was taken from the Richfield Public Safety Department's crime reports from March 21, 2013, detailing incidents from March 17-20.

March 17

  • A 22-year-old Orono, MN man was arrested for fourth-degree DUI, speeding, improper turn and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Police responded to a disturbance on the 7600 block of Cedar Avenue. An adult was arrested.
  • Copper piping and wiring was reported stolen from a residence on the 6500 block of Logan Avenue. The total loss is valued at $200.

March 18

  • Police responded to a burglary report on the 7200 block of Lyndale Avenue. Several items were reported missing from a vehicle, as well as a bicycle. The estimated loss is $1,250.
  • A suspicious vehile was spotted in a parking lot on the 10 block of 66th Street West. When police made contact with the vehicle, the driver was found to be intoxicated, failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for second degree DUI.
  • A vehicle was reported stolen from an alley on the 7000 block of Garfield Avenue. The vehicle was later found and a suspect was arrested.
  • Police responded to a delayed assault call on the 6300 block of Lyndale Avenue. The female victim reported that a friend she has had an on and off relationship with for six years came to her residence and assaulted her.
  • Four juveniles were issued citations for marijuana possession after officers observed a drug transaction in a parking lot on the 600 block of 78th Street East.
  • A 57-year-old Richfield man was arrested for third-degree DUI after refusing to submit to a sobriety test.

March 19

  • An iPhone was reported stolen on the 6600 block of Nicollet Avenue.
  • A car parked on the 7400 block of Cedar Avenue was reported stolen. The victim had both sets of keys and did not lend the car to anyone. The suspect is unknown.
  • Police responded to a domestic assault report on the 7100 block of 16th Avenue.
  • A 62-year-old Minneapolis man was arrested for second-degree DWI.

March 20

  • Police responded to a burglary on the 1200 block of 66th Street East. Two thousand dollars in cash, as well as $5,000 in watches were reported stolen.
  • Police responded to a report of a theft from a vending machine on the 2800 block of 66th Street West. The amount of damage and currency taken is unknown at this time.
  • Police took a property damage report at the station.
