Sheriff: 'Fans Don't Let Fans Drive Drunk' on Super Bowl Sunday

Sheriff Rich Stanek reminds football fans to not drive drunk.

Editor's Note: The following is a Hennepin County Sheriff's Office press release.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office urges you to help spread an important safety message to the public about designating a sober driver on Super Bowl Sunday — Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk.

Impaired-driving crashes—and fatalities—can be prevented by designating a sober driver and using common sense prevention:

  • Designate your sober driver before the party begins and give that person your car keys.
  • If you don’t have a designated driver, ask a sober friend for a ride home; call a cab, friend, or family member to come and get you; or just stay where you are and sleep until you are sober.
  • Never let a friend leave your sight if you think they are about to drive while impaired. Remember, Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk.
  • Always buckle up
  • The public is also encouraged to call 911 if they suspect a drunken driver. Provide the vehicle’s description, license plate number, location and direction of travel.
