A Richfield man has been charged with burglary after a Burnsville man told police that he found the suspect crouching by his bed last week.
Lalundray Wayne Jones, 29, faces a felony charge of first-degree burglary, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $35,000 fine.
According to the criminal complaint, Burnsville police were called to an apartment complex on Nov. 23 on a report of a burglary in progress.
The victim reported that he was awakened by a “loud thud” in his apartment and he smelled cigarette smoke. When the victim got out of bed, he found Jones crouching at the end of his bed. Then, a struggle between Jones and the victim ensued. When police arrived and arrested Jones, they found several items believed to be the victim's in his pockets.
Jones remains in the Dakota County Jail on a $20,000 bond. An omnibus hearing in his case is scheduled for Dec. 19 in Dakota County District Court in Hastings.
