Mother With a Knife, Failed Tobacco Checks & Counterfeit Cash: Police Blotter

The Richfield Public Safety Department releases its most recent crime reports.

All the following information was taken from the Richfield Public Safety Department's crime reports from June 3, 2013, detailing incidents from May 30-June 1.

May 30

  • Officers took a report of fraudulent checks being written from a victim's account.
  • Police responded to a report of a vehicle backing into a guardrail on the 1200 block of 66th Street East, causing the rail to break away from the concrete.
  • Police responded to a domestic assault report on the 7300 block of 18th Avenue. A male suspect was arrested for interfering with a 911 call and was transported to jail.
  • Police responded to a theft report at LA Fitness. The reporting party stated that while he was working out, his driver's license and $500 in cash was taken out of his locked locker.
May 31
  • A 44-year-old Minneapolis man was arrested for fourth-degree DUI.
  • Police responded to a residence on the 70 block of 77th Street West. An adult male, and stepfather, to a juvenile victim was reported at the residence despite being restrained from any contact with the victim. The suspect fled before police arrived.
  • Police confiscated counterfeit currency from an adult male. The male was released at the scene.
  • Police took a fraud report.
  • During a tobacco compliance check at Richfield Liquor Store, 6444 Lyndale Ave. S., an employee provided tobacco to a minor after checking identification.
  • Police responded to a report of a protection order violation that occurred on the 7100 block of Portland Avenue.
  • Police conducted a tobacco compliance check at Pump 'N' Munch gas station. A clerk failed the check and was issed a summons to appear in court.
  • Police conducted a tobacco compliance check at Super America, 7720 Nicollet Ave. S. The employee failed the check, providing tobacco to a minor without asking for identification.
  • Police responded to a shoplifting report at Payless Shoe Source. The alleged shoplifter was in custody when police arrived. The suspect was issued a citation.
  • Police took a report of a watch being stolen from a locked locker at LA Fitness. The watch is valued at more than $1,000.
  • A victim reported that her car appeared to have been keyed by an unknown person or group of people.
  • Police responded to a burglary report on the 7700 block of Penn Avenue. The victim said she didn't lock her apartment door when she went out to smoke a cigarette. 
  • Police responded to a domestic on the 6800 block of Nicollet Avenue. A male suspect was later located and arrested for domestic assault.
  • A victim reported that his car window had been smashed in. His gym bag was reportedly stolen.
June 1
  • A 33-year-old Minneapolis man was arrested for possession of synthetic narcotics after police stopped him for texting and driving. The suspect also had two felony warrants.
  • Police took a three separate theft from a vehicle report.
  • A woman reported that her wallet was stolen from her purse while she was shopping at a store on the 30 block of 66th Street West.
  • Police responded to a fight in progress on the 7600 block of Penn Avenue. A mother was arrested for second degree assault, after reportedly using a knife on her daughter. The daughter was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center.
  • Police responded to a shoplifting incident in progress at Sports Authority. Two males were arrested and taken to jail.
