A Bloomington man pleaded guilty to first-degree assault Tuesday after shooting a man three times, including once in the head in Richfield this past January.
According to the Hennepin County Attorney's Office, Anthony Terrell Jenkins, 20, was sentenced to 84 months in prison for shooting a victim once in the head, abdomen and left shoulder.
As previously reported by Patch, Police responded to a report of a shooting on the 30 block of 78th Street West at 9:48 p.m. on Jan. 3. However, after receiving additional calls, the male shooting victim was located at Super America, 7720 Nicollet Ave. S.
When police arrived at the gas station they found the victim being tended to by another man who said he was present at the time of the shooting. The victim was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center in stable condition that evening and reportedly told medical staff that he may have been shot with a .22-caliber handgun. He survived the incident.
The two men argued outside the gas station when Jenkins suddenly pulled out a handgun and fired, according to the Hennepin County Attorney's release.
