When police arrived at the gas station they found the victim being tended to by another man who said he was present at the time of the shooting. The victim was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center in stable condition that evening and reportedly told medical staff that he may have been shot with a .22-caliber handgun. He survived the incident.

The two men argued outside the gas station when Jenkins suddenly pulled out a handgun and fired, according to the Hennepin County Attorney's release.
