UPDATE: Dog Rescued From Sunday House Fire Dies

The dog had been resuscitated at the scene, however, it succumbed to its injuries Monday.

A dog, and resuscitated at the scene, died Monday after succumbing to injuries sustained in the fire, according to . Bloomington firefighters resuscitated the dog Sunday afternoon using a special training and equipment from BART (Basic Animal Rescue Training), however, it appears the damage was already done.

The were called to the 7500 block of Logan Avenue at 2:56 p.m. The first unit arrived at 3 p.m. to find fire showing from the rear of the home, Kewitsch told Richfield Patch in an e-mail.

"It was a very windy day and the fire extended into the attic and then extended to the house next door," Kewitsch said. "Three alarms were called to the scene due to the heat and stress on the firefighters."

Units from Bloomington, , Minneapolis, Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport, , Eden Prairie, West Metro and Hennepin EMS were called to the scene to assist Richfield firefighters. Kewitsch also said provided traffic and scene control and specialized firefighter rehabilitation units from Eden Prairie and West Metro Fire were utilized to keep firefighters safe in the high heat.

While the two pets died, there were no humans harmed in the fire. Howerver, one firefighter was treated for heat related symptoms at the scene and released.

"The house with the original fire was a complete loss along with its two car garage," Kewitsch said. "There was extensive damage to the second floor of a neighboring house along with damage to the siding on the house to the south."

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Witnesses reported hearing pops and an explosion prior to the fire. Kewitsch said investigators believe the pops and explosions were most likely aerosol cans exploding in the garbage can.
