Car Stolen With a Man's Daughter Still In It: Police Blotter

The Richfield Public Safety Department releases its most recent crime reports.

The following are Richfield police incidents that took place from Jan. 8 through Jan. 14, 2014.

Jan. 8

Police responded to a report of a fraud on the 7200 block of Nicollet Avenue. The victim had been called by persons identifying themselves as Xcel Energy. The victim bought three MoneyPak debit cards and gave the persons the pin numbers resulting in a loss of $987.50.

Jan. 9

An adult male was arrested on a warrant after being stopped in his vehicle by police.

A victim reported his wallet and keys stolen on the 6500 block of Lyndale Avenue. The victim's credit card was attempted to be used. The total loss is estimated at $200.

Jan. 10

Police responded to a report of a person receiving harassing phone calls on the 6400 block of Penn Avenue.

Officers took a shoplifting report where an amplifier had been stolen from the 7400 block of Lyndale Avenue.

Police responded to a domestic call at Candlewood Suites. When police arrived, a female was found in the room with marijuana and transported to Fairview Southdale Hospital. Charges are pending.

Officers responded to the Four Points Hotel on a report of harassing communications from a suspect due to a declined reservation.

Police responded to Richfield Health Care Center on a report of marijuana in one of the rooms. A male was issued a citation for a small amount of marijuana.

Police responded to a report of a protection order violation on the 7700 block of Upton Avenue, however, no violation was found.

Police responded to a vehicle theft on the 2900 block of 66th Street West. The victim stated that an unknown male took the vehicle that he was in the process of purchasing. The victim's daughter was still in the car when the unknown male took it. The suspect let the child out of the vehicle and drove away.

Police responded to the Richfield Ice Arena a theft from a vehicle report. A car window was broken and a purse was stolen.

Jan. 11

Police took a report of a snowball being thrown through a window and causing $500 in damage.

During a routine traffic stop, a driver was cited for marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession, and improper address on a driver's license.

Police responded to a theft by swindle report involving juveniles at Best Buy. The juveniles were released following a formal complaint.

Jan. 12

A 30-year-old Jersey City, NJ man was arrested for fourth-degree DWI.

A 21-year-old Richfield woman was arrested for third-degree DWI.

Police responded to Super America, 826 W. 66th St., on a report of a theft. A citation was issued for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Super America, 826 W. 66th St., reported a gas theft of $43.93.

Jan. 13

A vehicle was stolen from the 900 block of Rae Drive. The vehicle is a gold 1999 Acura 35R.

Unknown suspects reportedly stole a projector from a delivery to a school.

A garage on the 6300 block of Blaisdell Avenue was reportedly broken into. A pair of shoes were taken.

An adult female was cited for possession of a small amount of marijuana.

Police responded to a report of a fraud on the 7500 block of Lyndale Avenue. The victim received a call stating that payment via MoneyPak Green Dot card was need for an unpaid gas bill. The total loss was $900.

A wallet was reported stolen from the 6500 block of Lyndale Avenue. The victim said one of his credit cards had been used at several Richfield locations.

Police responded to a report of counterfeit currency on the 800 block of 66th Street East. The suspect was not located.

Jan. 14

An officer took a report of a domestic assault.

Police responded to a shoplifting report at Best Buy. A female suspect was located and cited. The theft amount was under $500.

Police responded to a noise complaint on the 6500 block of Oliver Avenue. When officers arrived, a strong marijuana smell was coming from the apartment. The party involved was arrested for drug possession.

Police responded to a report of a male knocking on window on the 6400 block of Pleasant Avenue. The suspect was located and cited for trespassing.

A vehicle was stolen from the 7500 block of Grand Avenue.
