Richfield New Year's Eve Gala

When: 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013.

Where: Richfield American Legion, 6501 Portland Ave. S. in Richfield.

Details: Celebrate the new year at the Richfield American Legion while also supporting Richfield Public Schools and the Richfield Foundation. The event cost is $30 and the doors open at 8 p.m. Dec. 31. For more information on the gala, visit the event's Facebook page.

Candle Light and Ice New Year's Eve

When: 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31.

Where: Wood Lake Nature Center, 6710 Lake Shore Dr. in Richfield.

Details: Follow hundreds of candle-lit luminaries on a trail through cattails and trees while on the lookout for deer, fox, and owls. Roast marshmallows over a crackling fire or warm up inside with hot cocoa. Make a craft, play a game, or just sit back and relax. No pre-registration; doors open at 6 p.m. The cost is $4 per person; free for Friends of Wood Lake Members.

New Year's Eve Skating Party

When: 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31.

Where: Richfield Ice Arena, 636 E. 66th St. in Richfield.

Details: There will be prizes, giveaways and complimentary refreshments. The cost is $4.50 per person; skate rental is $2.50 per person.

Minnesota Magicians Hockey Game

When: 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31.

Where: Richfield Ice Arena, 636 E. 66th St. in Richfield.

Details: Beer and food served by Champps available for purchase.
