More I-494 Lane Closures Begin Monday

Crews are continuing work on the Xerxes Avenue Bridge project.

After postponing work due to inclement weather last weekend, crews will resume working on the Xerxes Avenue Bridge Monday night. As a result, construction crews will begin closing eastbound and westbound lanes on Interstate 494 at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11.

Other closure details from a Minnesota Department of Transportation release include:

Eastbound I-494 will be reduced to a single lane at 10 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11 and Tuesday, Feb. 12 and will reopen at 6 a.m. on the following days.

Westbound I-494 will be reduced to a single lane at 10 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13 and Thursday, Feb. 14 and will reopen at 6 a.m. on the following days.

Motorists should watch for intermittent full closures of up to 15 minutes on both directions of the freeway construction crews set bridge beams spanning the roadway. These short-term full closures will occur during the overnight hours Feb. 11 through Feb. 15.

Southtown Drive will close between the Wells Fargo property and Cowboy Jack’s, and Xerxes Avenue will close between American Boulevard and Southtown Drive, at 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10 and will re-open by 5 a.m. Wednesday, Feb 13. Motorists should follow the posted detours to access area businesses.
