Optimist Club Will Host Annual 'No Kids Left Indoors' Event

The spring walleye dinner and auction will raise money to encourage children to spend more time outdoors.

No Kids Left Indoors, an initiative sponsored by the Optimist Club of Richfield Youth Foundation, announced it is hosting its annual walleye dinner and auction this spring.

The event will be held on April 21, 2012 at the Airport Hilton Hotel in Bloomington, Minnesota and will benefit No Kids Left Indoors, a program that encourages youth to get outdoors and experience nature.

The No Kids Left Indoors initiative believes children that spend time in nature have reduced stress, are more focused, have enhanced creativity, problem solving ability, self-control, self-esteem, as well as improvement in cognitive ability and health.

Past benefactors from the event include the Blue Goose Transportation Fund that transports school children to the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge and the Fraser School to develop a preschool outdoor nature lab. The group has raised almost $40,000 in the last two years at their annual event.

Tickets are $50 each and can be purchased from an Optimist Club of Richfield Youth Foundation member or by writing:
