Demolition Records Memories at Lyndale Gardens

The Cornerstone Group is highlighting the site's history while tearing down old buildings.

While demolition work gets underway on the Lyndale Gardens site, developers The Cornerstone Group are collecting memories and gathering the site's history.

At the Richfield Farmers Market and at other places around town, Molly Van Avery has gathered Richfield residents' memories of a site that's been a prominent part of the local agriculture and gardening scene for more than 100 years. According to a post on the developer's website, Van Avery highlighted how the company that became Bachman's started out growing food in then-innovative greenhouses in the early 1900s.

"Another person told me about the little Grandma who owned the business for many years who refused to retire. She would sit at the end of the checkout counters, watching her staff and interacting with her customers, raising a sweet little fuss over whatever people bought."
