New Technology Means More Street Time for Richfield Officers

The department has made some technological upgrades in recent months.

The Richfield Public Safety Department is taking advantage of some of the latest technology out there these days.

According to the City of Richfield's latest "Out and About in Richfield" feature, the department has made a number of upgrades in the last few months, and is still planning for more in the near future.

"Technology has kind of taken over law enforcement over the past couple years," Chief Todd Sandell said in the video feature. "We can get more technology it gives officers more time out on the street to do what the citizens want them to do, patrol their streets."

Among the upgrades include automated license plate readers, or LPRs, which are being paid for with a $30,000 grant the department recently received.
