Lakewinds Store, 911 Dispatch on Tuesday's Council Agenda

Will Lakewinds Natural Foods get it's final planned unit development approval? Will Richfield decide to keep 911 dispatch services in house? These topics and more will be discussed by the Richfield City Council this week.

The Richfield City Council has quite a full agenda set for Tuesday night.

Among the hot topic items are a resolution to approve the final planned unit development for Lakewinds Natural Foods at Lyndale Gardens, a liquor license request for a new Noodles & Company, and a discussion on the future of Richfield's 911 distpatch services.

Lakewinds Natural Foods Needs Final Approval

As previously reported by Patch, Lakewinds Natural Foods recently announced that it planned to open a third location store at Lyndale Gardens in early 2014. The new building will take the place of the long-vacant Lyndale Garden Center building.

In addition, final plat approval for Lakewinds, as well as the north half of the property is up for approval. It doesn't appear either measure should have trouble passing.

City Considers Contracting Out of 911 Dispatch

A looming software upgrade is forcing a decision by the City of Richfield on whether to maintain its own 911 emergency dispatch service or use Hennepin County's instead.

According to a recent Star Tribune article, City Manager Steve Devich said, "Local dispatching is something that is near and dear to the heart of the people of Richfield. ... It’s a hard decision. But we have to look at how many of these services a city like Richfield can provide with our limited tax base."

Noodles & Company to Open Second Richfield Location

Noodles & Company is getting close to opening a location at Cedar Point Commons. The council will consider a liquor license for on-sale wine and 3.2 malt liquor Tuesday night. An opening date has not been given yet.

Richfield Patch will update readers on the outcomes of these council decisions.
