Support Richfield Schools Technology Levy
As a Richfield resident and former Superintendent (1995 – 2008), I am writing this letter to urge your support for the Richfield School District capital projects levy for technology.
In the 21st century, technology is a basic skill. A 2011 University of Texas / Austin study estimates that about 60% of current jobs require at least basic computer skills, and that number is projected to grow to 80% as reliance on technology and computers grows. Approval of this referendum is vital to ensure that Richfield students can succeed in post-secondary education and the workplace. Further, in a time of school choice, approval of the referendum will ensure that Richfield can continue provide comparable technology resources as neighboring districts.
There are two questions on the ballot. A “yes” vote on Question #1 will renew the existing capital projects levy for another 10 years, and will allow the district to maintain existing technology and infrastructure at current levels. A “yes” vote on Question #2 will provide an additional $915,000 per year for ten years, increasing student access to 21st century learning and work place technology tools. Question #1 must pass in order for Question #2 to pass.

Please support Richfield students. Vote “yes” on the technology levy renewal and increase.
