Richfield's Andy Peterson and Duncan Pederson were recently nominated for swimming and diving's Athlete of the Year award by the Minnesota Swim Coaches Association. According to Marc Hamren, head coach of the boys swim team, this is a major award in the high school swimming community. The following short biographys were sent to the coaches association by Hamren: Andy capped off his six year Richfield swimming career with a stellar senior season. Not a club swimmer, Andy takes most of the season to get in shape, then tapers like crazy. At state he was 2nd in the 200 IM, lowering the Spartan varsity record to 1:55.68. In addition, he already holds Richfield's back stroke record of 55.35 (set as a junior), and is part of each of our relay …

South St. Paul Swimming and Diving Head Coach Matt Danielso said Richfield boys went "above and beyond" to make a new swimmer feel great.
Editor's Note: The following e-mail was submitted to Richfield Patch, which was originally sent to Richfield High School athletic and administrative personnel. Hello all - I just wanted to drop a quick e-mail to praise your boys' swimming and diving team. Tonight in our dual meet against Richfield, the Richfield swimmers were lined up along the wall cheering him on and waving for him to go. When he finished, the swimmers he had been competing against …
