The 2012-13 season has officially ended for the young men.
The Richfield High School boys basketball team is no longer in the race to state. The team narrowly lost to Blake High School 79-73 Saturday night. The Spartans defeated the Washburn Millers Tuesday night in its first section playoff game. Unfortuantely, Saturday's loss ends post-season play for the Spartans, with the team finishing 16-12-0 overall. The team is going the state tournament for the second season in a row, and for the second time in school history.
The Lady Spartans defeated the Chaska High School Hawks 72-45 Thursday night at Minnetonka High School. While the girls were on the court, fans were on Twitter. The Lady Spartans are the section champs for the second consecutive year.
The Richfield High School girls basketball team is heading to the state tournament for the second consecutive year. The Lady Spartans defeated the Chaska High School Hawks 72-45 Thursday night at Minnetonka High School. The big win crowned the team section champions for the second year in a row, too. The team's trip to state last season was the first in the school's history for the girls basketball team. The girls made it all the way to the final game, where they fell a little short to DeLaSalle. The team goes to state with a 27-3-0 record (24-3-0 in the regular season). The tournament begins next Wednesday, March 13 at the University of Minnesota. The team is hoping for another trip to state.
The Richfield High School girls basketball team is just one game away from another trip to state. The Spartans will take on the Chaska High School Hawks Thursday, March 7 in the section 6AAA championship game. The winning team will move on to the state championship series later this month. Richfield goes into Thursday's game with a 26-3-0 record (24-3-0 in the regular season), with stars Jessica January, Sierra Ford-Washington and Kyla Adams each averaging 23 or more points per game. Richfield nearly grabbed the state title last season, however, fell in the final championship game to DeLaSalle 65-4. Editor's Note: The following was submitted by Ramage coach Eric Herrmann. Richfield participated in the section 5AA team tournament on Friday, February 15th and finished 1-1 on the day. Richfield beat Minneapolis Edison 45-21 and lost to the eventual runner-up, Monticello 67-12. Edina participated in the section 2AAA team tournament on Thursday, February 14th and lost to Chanhassen 27-51. Richfield participated in the section 5AA individual tournament on Friday and Saturday, February 22nd and 23rd. The tournament was highlighted by two state tournament qualifiers, Christian Wellens (Richfield, gr. 10, 138) and Chandler Arredondo (Richfield, gr. 12, 195). Richfield hopes to clinch the state title in its first ever state tournament appearance.
After dominating Hutchinson Thursday afternoon, the Richfield High School girls basketball team will take on reigning state champ, DeLaSalle, at 6 p.m. Saturday at Target Center. Besides being the reigning champs, the Islanders go into the final game on a 15-game winning streak. While Richfield's nine-game streak is nothing to snuff at, their defensive tactics and ability to make shots will be key. Richfield continues its run for the Class AAA championship title.
After a stellar 68-53 win over the Red Wing Wingers Wednesday, the Richfield High School girls basketball team conquered Hutchinson Thursday afternoon, 45-28. The team will now move on to the final game for the championship title Saturday at Target Center. The girls will play the winner of the DeLaSalle/Fergus Fall game, which begins at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Minnesota State High School Girls Basketball Tournament begins Wednesday.
After clinching the 6AAA title March 8, the Richfield High School girls basketball team will begin its state tournament run against Red Wing at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Williams Arena. Richfield goes into the tournament seeded at No. 1 with a 25-4 overall record. Red Wing comes in with a 19-10 record. The victor will move on to play the winner of the Hutchinson and Hill Murray matchup at noon Thursday. Click here to see the girls' brackets. The Stars shot a 333 on the day; Three-time defending champion Orono sits in fourth place.
The Academy of Holy Angels boys golf team finished the first day of the Class AAA state tournament in eighth place on Wednesday. The Stars shot a 333 at Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan, MN 34 shots off the pace of team-leading Marshall. The Tigers lead the field with a 299, Detroit Lakes shot a 302, Staples Motley shot a 303 and three-time defending champion Orono shot a 306. The second round will take place Thursday with a 7:30 a.m. tee time in Jordan. Individually, Stars junior Josh Littman leads the way with an 80. He is currently tied with seven other golfers for 48th place overall. Senior Ben Hook shot an 83 on the day and its tied for 66th place. Teammates Connor Flaherty and Griffin Baker each shot an 85 and are tied for 76th overall…

The Holy Angels Starliners dance team takes home first place in the Section 1AA high kick dance competition; third in the jazz competition.
The Academy of Holy Angels dance team, the Starlineres, took home first place in the Section 1AA high kick dance competition and were also awarded third place in the jazz competition. Both teams have now earned the right to compete in the state tournament that will be held at the Target Center on Feb. 18-19. Head coach Kelly Newlin said, "We're excited to be going [to the state tournament] in both. We will just continue to work on our execution and our kicks."

That was an amazing game and great win for the islanders knowing some who goes to Richfield made it hard for me to choose between my own team and Spartans but I knew we would be able to do it hopefully Richfield gets it next year or after that. Btw fergus falls otters are better than they appear to be after all they were 29-2   more ›
