Richfield Patch Wishes All Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays

Have a wonderful Christmas and a happy holidays, and please take a moment to remember and honor the victims of the Newtown, CT, tragedy with a beautiful rendition of Silent Night by the New York City Children's Chorus.

From all of us here at Richfield Patch, we want to wish you Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas. In that spirit, I felt personally compelled to take a moment and remember the victims of the Dec. 14 Newtown, CT, tragedy who will not be with their families today. We can remember by simply taking two minutes and watching this beautiful rendition of "Silent Night" by the New York City Children's Chorus. The choir sang the song to open the Dec. 15 episode of "Saturday Night Live" to honor the victims of the shooting. It's simply beautiful. I still find it unimaginable that there are 26 new angels—including 20 tiny ones—looking down on all of us today as we celebrate the holiday with our loved ones. Christmas Reminiscence

The holiday season forces emotions and memories to the forefront of our minds.

As a child I was at my mom and dad's bedside before the sun came up on Christmas morning. How could I sleep when all my good behavior throughout the year had materialized into perfectly wrapped mysteries. When I arrived at the bedside, there were no words exchanged between child and parent. My mom, without opening her eyes, would lift the covers up for me to get in and then the wait was on. Light had to break before the merriment of opening gifts and arguing with my sister could begin. When I had successfully roused my parents and sister, Dad would mosey downstairs, start the coffee and check to make sure Santa had visited.
