Nothing pairs better with Sandy's jalapeno poppers like their sweet chili sauce, it's a must have the next time anybody goes to Sandy's. Also, if your appetite is such, the stuffed mushrooms with horseradish sauce at Houlihan's is mighty tasty as well.   more ›

Readers Vote Sandy's as Richfield's 'Best Hometown Bar'

The bar was pitted against its eastern rival, Frenchman's, and came out on top.

While the battle of who created the famous, Minneapolis-born Juicy Lucy has yet to be settled, readers have made their pick for the best townie bar in Richfield. In the 2012 Richfield Readers' Choice Battle of the Best Hometown Bar contest, the west side's Sandy's Tavern edged out its eastern rival, Frenchman's, ending with 74 percent of the votes. Readers commented that Sandy's was a fun, family-friendly place with great burgers and lots of regulars. Don't worry Frenchman's lovers, there's always 2013. Richfield Readers' Choice is taking a short break from the spotlight, however, it will return in the future with more local contests. Until then, make sure you go out and experience the local businesses Richfield has to offer.

Richfield Readers' Choice Presents: Battle of the Best Hometown Bar

This week's Richfield Readers' Choice contest asks voters to draw a line in the sand and pick their favorite hometown bar.

It's time for the biggest battle in all of Richfield Readers' Choice history. It's a battle of east versus west. Of two hometown bar and burger joints. Of two rivals vying for the title of Richfield Readers' Choice: Best Hometown Bar. You guessed it. It's Sandy's Tavern versus Frenchman's. (To review the bars in the directory, click on the name of the establishment highlighted in blue.) Cast your vote for your pick for the best hometown bar in the poll below. Voting ends at 9 p.m. Thursday, May 24. Your Richfield Patch editor will determine the Richfield Readers' Choice winner based on a combination of poll results and number of enthusiastic reader reviews in our Business Directory. We’ll announce the winner at noon Friday, May 25.

Houlihan's Dominates Another Richfield Readers' Choice Contest

The restaurant wins a second-consecutive contest.

Houlihan's fans showed their spirit by voting the restaurant as the Richfield Readers' Choice: Best Place to Watch March Madness contest winner. The bar/restaurant received 63 of the 94 votes in the two-week long contest, with its close neighbor, Champp's, receiving 20 votes. Houlihan's also won the contest for Best Place to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day two weeks before. See the poll below to see how all local sports bars fared. Richfield Readers' Choice Winner: Houlihan's

The national chain took the corned beef and the cabbage.

After Sandy's Tavern showed an early lead in the poll, Houlihan's came back to clinch the title of Richfied Readers' Choice: Best Place to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Houlihan's garnered 89 of the 134 votes, while Sandy's came in second with 17 and the American Legion Post 435 came in third with 15. The poll below details how all the establishments fared. Stay tuned for another Readers' Choice contest next week. Voting will begin Monday, but remember, it's not just the votes that determine the winner.
