Sami Rahamim, a St. Louis Park High student and the son of slain Accent Signage owner Reuven Rahamim, spoke to CNN on Wednesday about gun violence and meeting with President Barack Obama. A day after praising a speech on gun violence President Obama gave in Minneapolis, St. Louis Park gun control advocate Sami Rahamim, son of slain Accent Signage owner Reuven Rahamim, testified before a Minnesota House committee, saying new laws on guns and ammunition could prevent future shooting deaths. President called on voters to pressure their legislators to pass gun control measures.
Speaking to a crowd of local dignitaries and law enforcement officers on Monday, President Barack Obama called on voters to pressure Congress to act on curbing gun violence. "We've suffered too much pain to stand by and do nothing," he said. "We don't have to agree on everything to agree it's time to do something," he added. Rep. Keith Ellison has invited Sami Rahamim, a St. Louis Park High student and the son of slain Accent Signage owner Reuven Rahamim, to join him for the president’s State of the Union address Feb. 12, Ellison announced at a gun violence forum Thursday in Minneapolis. The 5th District representative and four other Democratic U.S. representatives had earlier urged their colleagues to use the speech to step up pressure for tighter gun control laws by inviting someone hurt by gun violence to the address.
