New Area Restaurant Offers Culinary Trip To Peru

Somos Peru opened earlier this summer next to Cub Foods, just over the Richfield border in South Minneapolis.

Look at the menu for Somos Peru, a new restaurant on the 5900 block of Nicollet Avenue South, and you might get a little confused. Some dishes on the menu strike the first-timer as falling in the "that looks authentic" category—shredded meat smothered in different house-made sauces, or ceviche. Others sound very familiar, but from a completely different context. In Minnesota, thin strips of beef sautéed with tomatoes, onions, fried potatoes, and soy sauce and served with white rice is a plate more often seen in Chinese restaurants. Hardee's Coming to Richfield? It's a Possibility

The international chain announced plans to open as many as 59 new restaurants around the Twin Cities in the next five years, with Richfield being a possible location.

The restaurant chain recently announced plans to sprinkle 59 new locations throughout the Twin Cities in the next five years. City Pages secured a map of the planned sites, with one targeted for east of I-35W and south of Highway 62 in Richfield. Edina, Bloomington, Minneapolis and St. Louis Park are also pegged as potential spots. Jim Sullivan, head of franchise development with CKE Restaurants, told City Pages the tentative locations all have high traffic counts, populations in the 40,000 range, good site visibility and drive-thru access. Pizza Lucé Officially Opens Doors

The restaurant is located in the former Bridgeman's building.

After months of anticipation, Richfield's Pizza Lucé officially opened its doors to the public at 11 a.m. Monday morning. The restaurant features an outdoor patio, bar and can seat 140 inside. In addition to its interesting pizza options and other Italian fare, the restaurant will also offer a weekend brunch and daily happy hour specials. It also has a variety of vegeterian, vegan and gluten-free options on its menu. The restaurant held a pre-opening celebration and test-run Sunday for an invite-only guest list. In addition, all Sunday's sales are being donated to VEAP. According to Corey Sax, part of Pizza Lucé's marketing department, said the company expects to donate about $2,200 to the nonprofit.

Richfield Pizza Lucé Opens Monday

There will also be an invite-only, pre-opening brunch, happy hour and dinner service Sunday, with all sales being donated to VEAP.

It's the moment that many local residents have been waiting for: Pizza Lucé will officially open its doors at 11 a.m. Monday, July 30. The restaurant took the place of the long-vacant Bridgeman's building at 800 W. 66th St. and will feature an outdoor patio, bar and seat 140 inside. In addition to its interesting pizza options and other Italian fare, the restaurant will also offer brunch from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Owner J.J. Haywood told Richfield Patch the restaurant's management team is comprised of managers transferring from Downtown Minneapolis, Hopkins and St. Paul locations, with the general manager being Matt Urspringer of Hopkins. I know it isn't Richfield but since it is located in "unorganized territory" off of hwy 5 and is pretty close to Richfield - I nominate the Fort Snelling Officers Club. It has a gem of a historic bar and some great affordable cocktails.   more ›
