Richfield's ambassador candidates were introduced and a public hearing was held for a proposed Taco Bell.
The Richfield City Council meets every second and fourth Tuesday each month at 7 p.m. at the Richfield City Hall and Municipal Center.
Taco Bell will takeover the former Burger King spot on East 78th Street near Menards.
Taco Bell was welcomed back to Richfield Tuesday night by the city council. Following a public hearing, the council unanimously approved a conditional use permit and several variance requests, allowing Border Foods, Inc. to convert the former Burger King location at 140 E. 78th St. Menards real estate representative Tyler Edwards was on hand to share his company's objections to the proposed site plan. As previously reported by Patch, in two letters dated April 16 and May 1, and at the April 22 Richfield Planning Commission public hearing, Menards spoke against the proposed project. The city council will hold a public hearing at Tuesday night's meeting. However, Menards representatives will likely be on hand to recommend against the project as is.
Richfield may once again be home to a Taco Bell in the near future. The Richfield City Council will hold a public hearing Tuesday regarding a conditional use permit and variances for the business to revamp the former Burger King building at 140 E. 78th St. Burger King closed its doors last year after a fruitless attempt to be included late in the redevelopment of the adjacent Menards property. Taco Bell had a Richfield location on 66th Street near Penn Avenue that closed, and is now occupied by Mediterranean restaurant Aida. The Richfield City Council has its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday night.
Among the items on the night's agenda for the Richfield City Council Tuesday, are two items related to the Lyndale Gardens redevelopment. In addition, City Manager Steve Devich will address the garbage storage ordinance and the city's health board will present businesses with 2012 Food Safety Awards. The purchase is part of the revamp of Richfield Parkway and a bike trail near Cedar Point Commons.
After years of waiting, owners of 10 homes on 17th Avenue will soon be receiving checks from the City of Richfield. The Richfield City Council approved the purchase of the homes Tuesday night. The homes are adjacent to the Cedar Point Commons shopping center between 63rd and 65th streets. Purchase prices ranged from $145,000 to $180,000. McKenzie Novak, who lives with her fiancé Adam Gaertner at 6438 17th Ave. S., said the process was frustrating, but they were excited to move on. "It's official," Novak said excitedly in a message to Patch. "We are moving!" I'm concerned by Garcia's comment. Taco Bell is objectively NOT meeting the standards the city requires -- that's why it needed a conditional use permit, and a large number of variances.   more ›
