A record setting 101-degree day did not stop spectators from filling Veterans Memorial Park to watch the amazing 30 minute fireworks show for the annual Richfield Fourth of July Fireworks display. So many colors, shapes and sounds. First came the to ground shaking boom, a pop up above, then the sky would fill with bright colorful light that would illuminate the ground beneath and finally the crowd would answer back with a resounding ooh and aah. Some of the shapes were rings, hearts, smile face, X0's and a star. Happy Fourth of July from Richfield Patch. Stay tuned for photos from Thursday night's coronation event. *** Other related articles:
High temps and some surreal humidity did not keep local residents from coming out to to see the annual parade.
Water bottles, fans and a cool mist of water seemed to be the favorites of the day for participants and onlookers during the annual Richfield Hometown 4th of July Parade Wednesday. The parade began at 70th Street and Nicollet Avenue and stretched north to 66th Street and then east along 66th. Marching bands were almost absent from the festivities, as concerns about the heat caused some not to march. For some bands, Richfield's parade was the second on the schedule for the day. Being an election year, the politicians were out in full force alng with their supporters, shaking hands and handing out stickers. Many local and community groups also turned up as well. We've got a great gallery of all the action above. Were you there? We'd love to…

New this year was a wider selection adult beveradges to choose from including Margaritville Spiked Tea and Lemonade. Food vendors featuring tacos, roasted corn, mini donuts and cheese curds lined the perimeter as people ate, danced and laughed with neighbors. Of course, we can't forget about the celebration's staple performer, The Rockin' Hollywoods. Again, the band gave the crowd something to move to with their mix of oldies, blues, and other easy to dance to songs. Kids and adults were crowded in front of the stage through …

As part of the Richfield Hometown 4th of July Celebration festivities, the car show brings classic cars and new models to the park for all to admire. This year's turnout was a lower than usual, with many likely staying away from the sweltering heat. While many didn't make it out, those who did had a chance to take home some prizes. Acme Speed Shop club member Randy Osmond of Richfield took home a trophy for his Hudson Wasp. Also in the show was a 1955 Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria owned by Vicki Hansen of Bloomington, MN. Although not winning any trophies at this show, Hansen told Patch the car took "Best in Show" …
