UPDATED: Keith Ellison Wins Re-Election Bid

Ellison will be returning to Washington for another term.

Keith Ellison received 74.27 percent of the vote, re-electing him to a third term in the U.S. House of Representatives. ***Original Text*** After what turned out to be a contentious and heated race, incumbent Rep. Keith Ellison defeated Republican challenger Chris Fields Tuesday night. This will be Ellison's fourth term in the U.S. House of Representatives. UPDATED: Garcia Defeats Buzicky in Ward 2 City Council Race

Unofficial results put Edwina Garcia in the soon-to-be vacant seat of Fred Wroge.

It looks like Edwina Garcia will be returning to the Richfield City Council. According to unofficial results, Garcia took 58.81 percent of the votes Tuesday night defeating former Richfield firefighter, David Buzicky. As of 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Secretary of State's website is showing all three Ward 2 precincts' results are in, with Garcia receiving 2,943 votes and Buzicky receiving 2,025. Garcia first served on the Richfield City Council in the mid-80s as the Ward 3 representative for two terms, before moving on to serve four terms in the Minnesota House of Representatives in the 1990s. While Richfield traditionally votes liberal, voters in 63B voted slightly more conservative than those in 63A in the 2008 election. Scroll down to see 2012 Richfield election results. Barack Obama and Mitt Romney duked it out tonight in their first presidential debate in Denver, Colorado. Patch live-blogged the debate, which featured the candidates touching on domestic issues like health care, PBS funding, and America's energy sources. A couple of points. 1) Almost every incumbent President has lost the first debate since they have been televised, the only exception was Bill Clinton. 2) I remember in 2008 watching folks talk about how Obama lost debates to Hillary Clinton and how he lost debates to John McCain and yet he was the guy who took the oath of office at the end.
