Menards Announces Grand Opening Festivities

The official celebration begins Saturday, Feb. 23.

To celebrate the recent opening of the new two-story superstore, Richfield's Menards is kicking off a nine-day grand opening celebration beginning Feb. 23, complete with demonstrations, prize giveaways, and celebrity and guest appearances. Developer Presents Latest Lyndale Gardens Design Renderings

Get a look at the latest plans for the future downtown of Richfield.

The redevelopment of the former Lyndale Garden Center site is getting closer and closer to reality. While site developer The Cornerstone Group hasn't locked down all retail tenants or finalized the housing portion of the project, it has released the most recent renderings of what the site—which will be aptly named Lyndale Gardens—could look like. According to the designs, which can all be seen in the photo box above, the developer plans on both apartment and townhome style housing units, with many of the townhome units having a perfect view of Richfield Lake. Council Approves Purchase of Ten 17th Avenue Homes

The purchase is part of the revamp of Richfield Parkway and a bike trail near Cedar Point Commons.

After years of waiting, owners of 10 homes on 17th Avenue will soon be receiving checks from the City of Richfield. The Richfield City Council approved the purchase of the homes Tuesday night. The homes are adjacent to the Cedar Point Commons shopping center between 63rd and 65th streets. Purchase prices ranged from $145,000 to $180,000. McKenzie Novak, who lives with her fiancé Adam Gaertner at 6438 17th Ave. S., said the process was frustrating, but they were excited to move on. "It's official," Novak said excitedly in a message to Patch. "We are moving!" Revamped Richfield Menards Opens Doors

The store has been completely rebuilt.

The new Richfield Menards superstore opened its doors to the public bright and early Tuesday morning. The new two-story home improvement store replaced the former one-story store, as well as the former Jun Bo Chinese Restaurant. The property is roughly 10 acres in size. Richfield's 64th and Lyndale Liquor Store to Be Revamped

Construction begins April 1, 2013.

The Richfield City Council gave the construction greenlight for the revamp of the 6444 Lyndale Ave. S. liquor store at its Jan. 22 meeting. Construction is set to being April 1. The images above are the new design concepts for the revamped store.

Developer to Host Lyndale Gardens Open House Monday

In addition, The Cornerstone Group will be collecting books for its future Little Free Library.

Citizens interested in seeing the latest site plans for Lyndale Gardens are invited to an open house event from 4-6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11. Event-goers will be able to see the latest site plans, ask questions and give developers feedback. Site developer The Cornerstone Group has been holding a series of community events at the site as part of its efforts to involve future site users in the design process and showcase all the potential uses. As part of Monday's event, the developer will also be collecting used or new books for its eventual "Little Free Library." Little Free Libraries were created by a Hudson, WI man in 2010 in honor of his mother, a former teacher and book lover who died more than a decade ago, and aim to build a sense of …

Menards Announces Opening Date for New Richfield Store

The moment many Richfield residents have been waiting for is here.

The new Richfield Menards superstore is set to open Tuesday, Feb. 12. The announcement was made Thursday morning. The new two-story home improvement store replaced the former one-story store, as well as the former Jun Bo Chinese Restaurant. The property is roughly 10 acres in size. “We are really excited to present this amazing new store to our friends in Richfield," Jeff Abbott, a Menards spokesperson, said in a press release. Where did you park, Linda? I believe parking is now permitted on the north side of East 78th Street (the frontage road between Hwy 5/494 and Menards). There should also be parking available behind Menards on S 2nd Ave. There is also Sunday parking available on Nicollet. UPDATED: Mayor Goettel to Give State of the City Address

The annual event will take place Jan. 23.

The Richfield Chamber of Commerce will welcome Mayor Debbie Goettel for the annual State of the City Address Wednesday, Jan. 23 at Richfield City Hall and Municipal Center. Goettel will speak about downtown redevelopment happenings, the city's 2013 budget and what's happening in the upcoming year. Chamber members and guests are invited to attend the monthly member lunch meeting beginning at 11:30 a.m. in the Bartholomew Room; registration is required.
