The sting happened along the I-494 corridor, according to police.
The Richfield Public Safety Department's Special Investigation Unit arrested 10 men for engaging in prostitution in a public place during a sting along the Interstate 494 corridor Tuesday. According to the department's Facebook page, the SIU was assisted by the Bloomington Police Department. Would you call the police if you thought something suspicious was happening on your block?
The Richfield Public Safety Department is encouraging more citizens to put aside their fears of being a "nosey neighbor." According to the department's Facebook page, a citizen called 911 last week to report an unknown car driving around the neighborood, making frequent stops. While this could have been anything, as it turned out, the driver was a felon who was subsequently arrested and charged with two counts of promoting prostitution and one count of human trafficking, according to police. "No police department can function effectively without the assistance of responsible citizens," the Facebook post said. Police say they found crack cocaine in the Richfield apartment where Angela Lydia Cook was promoting prostitution.
A Richfield woman has been charged with felony drug possession and promoting prostitution from her Richfield apartment. Angela Lydia Cook, 28, is charged with third-degree drug possession, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The charge has a mandatory minimum penalty of a $75,000 fine. Cook is also charged with solicitation, inducement and promotion of prostitution, a felony with a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison and a $40,000 fine. Officers with the Richfield Police Department investigating prostitution in the city found an advertisement on Backpage.com and called the listed number, according to the criminal complaint. Police say Tramayne Colfred Williams placed ads on Backpage.com for prostitution services, some of which were provided in a Richfield apartment.
A Fergus Falls man has been charged with promoting prostitution and felony drug possession after police say they connected him to online ads promoting prostitution services in a Richfield apartment. Tramayne Colfred Williams, 30, is charged with solicitation, inducement and promotion of prostitution, a felony with a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison and a $40,000 fine, and fifth-degree drug possession, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Williams is also charged with giving false information to police, a gross misdemeanor with a maximum penalty of a year in jail and a $3,000 fine.
