Richfield Resident's Uniform Design a Finalist for Milwaukee Brewers Contest

Fans will vote on the three finalists' design. The winning design will be worn during two exhibition games in the upcoming season.

Richfield resident Ben Peters is one of three Milwaukee Brewers fans announced as finalists in the team's Design a YOUniform Contest. According to Fox Sports-Wisconsin, nearly 700 entries were submitted and a panel of judges narrowed the designs down to three finalists. In addition to Peters, the designs of Ron Verrecchio of Catonsville, MD and Nicholas Fout of Madison, WI were also chosen as finalists. Fans will choose the winning design, which will be worn during two exhibition games in the upcoming season. The winner will receive airfare for two to Phoenix, $1,500 for hotel, transportation and other expenses and two tickets to Milwaukee's spring training game on March 22 against the Cubs, according to Fox. Richfield's Blunt Signs Professional Baseball Contract With St. Paul Saints

Donald Blunt signs with Saints Saturday.

Richfield native and Richfield High School and Augsbug College baseball alumnus Donald Blunt signed a professional contract with the St. Paul Saints, an independent minor league team in the American Association, Saturday. Blunt started at shortstop for four years at Augsburg and finished the 2011 season as the MIAC's (Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) leader in overall home runs with six, according to an article on Augsburg College's website. In addition, as previously reported by Richfield Patch, Blunt was given All-MIAC spring sports honors and played on the MIAC baseball team.
