Maddie needs a new home.

This week's Richfield Patch Pet of the Week is Maddie: Maddie is a 2-3-year-old Toy Fox Terrier/Rat Terrier mix, who comes from an abusive home and was rescued in southern Minnesota. Because of her less-than-ideal circumstances, Maddie was timid around other animals at first during her shelter stay. But after entering foster care and a little time warming up to her new surroundings, it became clear that Maddie is a truly loving and eager-to-please animal. Maddie loves …

Of course, humans surrender their companion animals for all sorts of reasons. “He’s untrainable,” or “She has more energy than I thought she would,” are common phrases heard, according to Pet Haven of Minnesota. However, every once in a while an animal is surrendered for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with them. This is the case for 10-year-old Buck, pictured above.
