UPDATE: Authorities Release Name of Man Killed in Officer-Involved Shooting

A Richfield officer shot and killed the man Friday morning after responding to a call of an emotionally disturbed man.

The name of the man killed by a Richfield officer in an incident on the 6600 block of Park Avenue Friday morning. According to a press release from the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office, Jeffery Michael O'Connor, 25, died of multiple gunshot wounds after a Richfield officer shot him inside a residence around 9 a.m. Friday. As previously reported by Richfield Patch, Richfield officers responded the home on Park Avenue on a report of an emotionally disturbed man and a possible hostage situation. O'Connor was reportedly wielding a knife when the officer shot and killed him. Authorities are investigating the incident. The officer involved in the shooting, whose name has not been released to the public, was not harmed during the …
