Wood Lake Manager Lends Her Voice to Nature
Karen Shragg, Richfield's veteran Nature Center manager, writes nature guides and children's books to educate adults and the community's youth.
There are many ways to teach a lesson. But, if you want that lesson to stick, it helps to put it in writing, according to Karen Shragg, author and manger of Wood Lake Nature Center. Shragg swears she has a typewriter built into her head. She has been a published author since 1991 and has written in a variety of different genres, experimenting with nature guides, poetry and children's books. A teacher at heart, Shragg started writing books as a way to allow her messages to have a more lasting presence. "If you're mission-based, writing offers teaching in a delayed format.
