PHOTOS: Richfield 4th Of July Fireworks Light Up The Night

A heat filled day ends with colorful works of art above Veterans Memorial Park.

A record setting 101-degree day did not stop spectators from filling Veterans Memorial Park to watch the amazing 30 minute fireworks show for the annual Richfield Fourth of July Fireworks display. So many colors, shapes and sounds. First came the to ground shaking boom, a pop up above, then the sky would fill with bright colorful light that would illuminate the ground beneath and finally the crowd would answer back with a resounding ooh and aah. Some of the shapes were rings, hearts, smile face, X0's and a star. Happy Fourth of July from Richfield Patch. Stay tuned for photos from Thursday night's coronation event. *** Other related articles:

PHOTOS: Richfield Resident Takes Home Trophy At Annual Car Show

Hot sun and even hotter cars set up shop in the Richfield Ice Arena parking lot for the annual Richfield Hometown 4th of July Car Show.

The Richfield Ice Arena at Veterans Memorial Park was once againt the location for the annual car show on Tuesday afternoon. As part of the Richfield Hometown 4th of July Celebration festivities, the car show brings classic cars and new models to the park for all to admire. This year's turnout was a lower than usual, with many likely staying away from the sweltering heat. While many didn't make it out, those who did had a chance to take home some prizes. Acme Speed Shop club member Randy Osmond of Richfield took home a trophy for his Hudson Wasp. Also in the show was a 1955 Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria owned by Vicki Hansen of Bloomington, MN. Although not winning any trophies at this show, Hansen told Patch the car took "Best in Show" …

Local Fire Marshal Gives Fireworks Safety Tips

Fireworks are unpredictable. Here are some things you need to know to stay safe.

These include bottle rockets, roman candles and firecrackers.  Jenson says the major concern with launching fireworks is the lack of control after they launch.  “Once you light them, you don’t know where they’re going to land.” And sometimes they …

The Richfeld Hometown 4th of July Celebration featured Family Night Monday.

With temperatures topping out at 99 degrees Monday night, hundreds of locals braved the sweltering air to be merry at the Richfield Hometown 4th of July Family Night event at Veterans Memorial Park. Poll: What's Your Favorite Part of the Richfield 4th of July Celebration?

The six-day event gives the public a lot of options for fun. Take our poll below and share your thoughts in the comments section,

The flags and banners along 66th Street East near Veterans Memorial Park were hung with care this last week in anticipation of the Richfield Hometown 4th of July Celebration. As a Richfield native, I've participated in nearly every aspect of the celebration from singing along to The Rockin' Hollywoods' version of "Pretty Woman" at the annual street dance to oohing and awing over the fireworks display. (However, I don't miss the marching in the parade during my high school cheerleading days. Awful tanlines.) The festivities kicked off with the annual carnival on Saturday and will end with the Richfield Ambassador Coronation July 5, with plenty of fun, family friendly activities to enjoy in between. I want to know what your favorite part of …
