PHOTOS: Holy Angels Boys Hockey Team Beats Top-Ranked Northfield

Despite great efforts by the leading Missota Conference team, the Stars took the game in a 6-5 win.

The Stars of the Academy of Holy Angels came to the Northfield Ice Arena on Thursday night and dealt Northfield its first Missota Conference loss of the season. The Raiders (10-4, 4-1 Missota) rallied back twice from three-goal deficits to make the game close, but fell 6-5. The Holy Angels team, which currently holds a 5-5-1 record on the season, has its next game is 2 p.m. Saturday at Richfield Ice Arena against Red Wing. Holy Angels Announces New Head Track Coach

Jim Gunderson is a Holy Angels social studies and physical education teacher.

Editor's Note: The following is an Academy of Holy Angels press release. The Academy of Holy Angels (AHA) has named Jim Gunderson as its head track coach beginning with the 2013 spring season. Gunderson is a Holy Angels social studies and physical education teacher. Gunderson has coaching experience in several sports in both schools and in community organizations. He currently is the associate head football coach and defensive coordinator for Holy Angels. He also coached football in several positions at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California, and at Simley High School in Inver Grove Heights. Holy Angels Tennis Teams Raise $1,500 For All Vets Memorial

The teams held a special pancake breakfast fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 11, Veterans Day.

The Academy of Holy Angels tennis teams raised $1,500 to benefit Richfield's Honoring All Veterans Memorial (HAVM) through a pancake breakfast on Veterans Day 2012. In the photo above, Steve Werle (middle), teacher and tennis coach at the Academy of Holy Angels, presents a check to Len Gudmunson (left), Honoring All Veterans Memorial chair. The funds will benefit the HAVM construction fund and the Sponsor-A-Vet program, which alleviates the cost of an engraving for veterans' families. Pictured right is HAVM Board Member Howie Hilton.

Holy Angels Names New Basketball Cheer Coach

Brock has a strong background in cheer, having participated for four years in varsity cheer in high school. She served as captain her senior year. She was nominated and recognized each of her four years by the National Cheer Association in the categories of stunting, tumbling, jumps, and leadership. She also played women’s soccer throughout her college career at Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas. Holy Angels Lady Soccer Players Receive All State Honors

Two ladies were honored on Sunday during the Minnesota State High School Soccer Coaches Association Tournament banquet.

Two Academy of Holy Angels womens soccer players recently received All State recognition from the Minnesota State High School Soccer Coaches Association. Sophomore Bridget Schoffman received an All State First Team Award, while senior Megan Nicklay received an All State Honorable Mention. Both Schoffman and Nicklay are both midfielders for the Holy Angels team. The ladies were presented their awards at MSHSSCA's state tournament banquet on Sunday, Oct. 21 at the St. Paul River Centre. Local Tennis Team to 'Serve it Up' for Richfield's Veterans Memorial

The Holy Angels tennis team is sponsoring a pancake breakfast on Veteran's Day.

Members of the Academy of Holy Angels tennis team and the school’s food service vendor, Taher, Inc., are teaming up to sponsor a pancake breakfast to raise funds for Richfield's Honoring All Veterans Memorial. The breakfast will run from 9 a.m. to noon on Veterans Day, Sunday, Nov. 11 at Holy Angels. The event has been dubbed "Net Gain—Serving It Up For Those Who Serve." “The men and women who fought to protect us and preserve the notion that mankind was meant to be free are much on our minds as Veterans Day approaches,” Steve Werle, Holy Angels social studies teacher and tennis coach, said in a release. “And our tennis team members and their families have chosen this project to honor them and to raise some funds for a lasting memorial.” …
