A Richfield man has been charged with leading police on a high-speed chase while in a go-kart. Harry Lee Bostick, 30, is charged with fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, a felony with a maximum penalty of three years in prison and a $5,000 fine. A Hennepin County sheriff’s deputy was southbound on Portland Avenue just before 3 p.m. Nov. 12 when he spotted a black go-kart in the 6400 block, heading north on Portland, according to the criminal complaint, signed by Hennepin County Sheriff’s Deputy Erik McKloskey. Because the go-kart had no lights, license or registration, the deputy turned his squad car around, activated his emergency lights and began pursuing the vehicle. Police say Joshua Dale Vredenburg chased a Richfield man through his yard with a vehicle, before leading police on a rush-hour chase, causing several accidents and a fire before crashing into a house.
A Goodhue, MN man has been charged two felonies after attempting to run over a man and leading police on a rush-hour chase through Richfield and Bloomington, during which he caused several accidents and a fire. Joshua Dale Vredenburg, 20, is charged with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, which carries a maximum penalty of seven years in prison and a $14,000 fine, and fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, for which the maximum penalty is three years in prison and a $5,000 fine. The assault charge has a mandatory minimum penalty of a year and a day in prison and a $4,200 fine.
