To celebrate the recent opening of the new two-story superstore, Richfield's Menards is kicking off a nine-day grand opening celebration beginning Feb. 23, complete with demonstrations, prize giveaways, and celebrity and guest appearances. The following is the schedule for many of the special and celebrity guest appearances. The new Richfield Menards superstore opened its doors to the public bright and early Tuesday morning. The new two-story home improvement store replaced the former one-story store, as well as the former Jun Bo Chinese Restaurant. The property is roughly 10 acres in size. It's the moment that many local residents have been waiting for: Pizza Lucé will officially open its doors at 11 a.m. Monday, July 30. The restaurant took the place of the long-vacant Bridgeman's building at 800 W. 66th St. and will feature an outdoor patio, bar and seat 140 inside. After announcing it would be downsized in late March, the Richfield Best Buy location will hold a grand re-opening celebration Saturday and Sunday. The revamp is part of the company's new "Connected Stores" strategy. The model is a redesign of the company's current big-box concept. Stores, like Richfield's, were trimmed down and focus on portable electronics—such as tablets and e-readers—and feature a central knowledge desk where people can get things like wireless plans for cell phones. According to a company press release, the new store will allow for a more interactive, accessible shopping experience. The parking at this big a-- store is awful, where is everybody supposed to park! With employee cars there, all the snow, the Menard trucks, no place for customers, the city council should be ashamed the way they approved this and threw Burger King to the wolves.   more ›
