Richfield KFC Shutters Doors; Popeyes' Takeover Pending
Popeyes is attempting to take over more than two dozen bankrupt franchise locations, including the Richfield location.

At least since Monday, Richfield's Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant has had its doors locked, fryers off and chairs put up on tables. However, the space may not be dark for long if AFC Enterprises, the Atlanta-based parent company of Popeyes, gets its way. As previously reported by Richfield Patch, AFC agreed to buy 14 Twin Cities KFC restaurants from a bankrupt franchisee and plans on turning the restaurants into Popeyes locations. KFC is fighting the restaurant conversions, hoping the restaurants will retain the KFC name under new management, according to Business Insider. …
