This week's Superstar Next Door features two local sisters who love to dance.
If you’re looking for Kendall or Payton Meuwissen, chances are they’re in a dance studio. The Golden Valley sisters spend hours on end perfecting their skills. Kendall, a junior at Hopkins High School, spends upwards of 30 hours a week dancing between her time with Summit Dance Shoppe and the varsity dance team. That practice has paid off. Earlier month, Kendall was third runner up at the Miss Dance/Drill Team USA competition in Irvine, CA, and also won the award for best dance technique. Payton, 9, placed first at the Little Miss Dance/Drill Team USA competition. For the Meuwissens, dancing isn’t a chore; it’s a part of life they love. Take a look at the above video as they talk with and dance for Patch.

Tons of snow came floating down from the sky on Sunday, causing crashes, headaches and frowns across the state. While the weather was the topic of the weekend, much more went on in town throughout the week: Government House Rep. Linda Slocum (D-Richfield) applauded Gov. Mark Dayton for his veto of the Republicans’ budget bill. She called the bill reckless and said the bill would’ve taken Minnesota in the wrong direction. The Neighborhood Files Local resident Brenna Pederson was recognized for her achievements in art at the Minnesota Scholastic Art Awards (MSAA) at the Minnesota College of Art and Design (MCAD). Richfield …
