PHOTOS: Richfield Falls to DeLaSalle in State Title Game
Richfield makes it to the final round of the state tournament for the first time.
After a hard-fought battle against reigning champs DeLaSalle, the Richfield High School Spartans fell 65-45 in the Class AAA Championship game. Richfield had trouble getting use to playing at Target Center and the team’s failure to make free throws contributed to its demise. At the half, the Spartans trailed the Islanders 33-22, a lead that DeLaSalle would increase gradually as the second half went on. This is the second consecutive state championship title for DeLaSalle. While Richfield was unable to secure a victory, the community welcomed the team home at 9:30 p.m. with a celebration in the high school gymnasium. They kept up well in the first half, but as the article states, those missed free throw attempts could've made a major difference. We're only loosing a couple girls to graduation so we should have a solid chance at making it happen again next year!   more ›
