The Richfield Dual Language School is located in the Elliot Education Center, next to the Richfield S.T.E.M. SchoolMore campus. The school was opened for the 2007-08 school year as a two-way immersion school that works with both native English and Spanish speaking students. Kids begin at this school as kindergartners and will continue through to 5th grade. Kindergarten is almost entirely in Spanish and as the kids move through the grades, teachers begin to use English more. The school's goal is to turn out well-educated and bilingual students. Hopefully, other Richfield schools will eventually have an immersion strand to keep these students learning. Currently the school runs to 3rd grade, but will be a K-5 institution by fall 2012.
Partnership Academy Charter School

In addition, RHS offers a variety of electives such as global languages, art, family and consumer sciences, music, band, business and marketing and technology education. The school also offers advanced courses, off-campus programs through Hennepin Technical College, special education and ESL classes. The school also wants to ensure the building is safe for its students and staff. The school has about 50 security cameras, indoors and out, nineteen of which were added before the beginning of the 2010-11 school year.

While its curriculum meets all district requirements for all subjects, teachers and students dive more deeply into the sciences. The goal of teachers and school administrators is to create an environment that students enjoy learning in. The school believes if students are engaged and excited, there will be high performance and completion. The first unit all students embarked upon was the study of the monarch butterfly. The school has computer, science and engineering labs, so kids can be hands-on learners and explorers.

With the reinvention of the facility into a middle school, sixth grade was added to the academic structure. In addition to standard and mandatory courses, students in each grade level have the opportunity to take exploratory classes such as general music, band, choir, Spanish, computer skills, technology, art, health and physical education. Generally, students take two of these courses each quarter, on alternating days. These classes allow students to get a taste of elective courses that can be taken in high school, which is just a couple short years away.
