VEAP elects new members to the Board of Directors

At the annual meeting on April 25, 2013, the following were elected to VEAP’s Board of Directors:

 

Cory Kiner works as a CPA at E.T. Kelly & Associates located in Bloomington. A Bloomington resident, Cory has served for 20 years as an evaluator of service learning projects at the Future Problem Solving program. On VEAP, Cory says, “…This volunteer commitment to VEAP is a unique opportunity to serve others in a meaningful way through a well-established and impactful organization…to me, this call to action and a call to service.  I am ready to do whatever I can to assist my neighbors and to further the mission of the organization.”

Rick Long is the Senior Vice President of Claims at Western National Insurance Group. As an active community volunteer, Rick has participated in various committees at his church as well as many organizations including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity, Ronald McDonald House and City mission all while living in upstate New York. A resident of Minnesota since 2010 VEAP is delighted to have Rick join the board. In his own words Long states, “a big part of relocating to Minnesota in 2010 was to find more purpose out of my chosen career. The culture at Western is one of balance between the needs of our employees, customers and community.”

Reed Nelson is the Owner and President of Nelson Numeric Inc., in Bloomington. Reed has been active in the Bloomington Community with 20 years in the Bloomington Fire Department, on the Bloomington Youth Soccer board and as a group leader in the bible study fellowship at Christ Presbyterian Church.  Regarding VEAP Reed says, “I am feeling called to help those in my community. I am a lifelong resident of Bloomington and feel I can use that knowledge and experience of living here to help VEAP.”

 

Tim Ribbens is a partner at Baker Tilly Virchow Krause LLP and has been promoted to Vice President of the board at VEAP.  Ribbens, a VEAP board member since 2012, is a member of Calvary Christian Reformed Church and past board member as well as a past board member of the Calvin Christian School. Referencing VEAP Ribbens says, “I have observed and been impressed with the positive impact VEAP has on the lives of the families and communities it serves. I believe it is important to give back to the community and to serve others.”

 

In addition, Robert Purvis serves as Chairman at R E Purvis and Associates in Bloomington has been promoted to President of the board at VEAP. Purvis, a VEAP board member since 2011, has been diligent within VEAP working in both the warehouse and transportation fields. He also serves on the board for both Kaleidoscope and the after school programs in the Phillips neighborhood. With regard to VEAP Purvis comments, “I feel that we each need to give back to the community and help those that are less fortunate. VEAP has demonstrated over a long period of time to be a good vehicle for reaching those in our community that are in need.”
