Spartans Win Richfield Turf Battle
Richfield defeats Holy Angels in final pre-Christmas boys basketball matchup on Wednesday night.
By a scant two-point margin, the Richfield boys basketball team won its Wednesday night matchup at neighboring Holy Angels, 54-52, to remain undefeated on the season.
The Spartans led 18-12 at halftime after a low-scoring first half, then held on through the final 18 minutes to clinch the narrow victory.
Holy Angels center Damon Woods led all scorers with 18 points on his home floor, yet was the lone Stars player to crack double digits on the night.

Richfield had three players score in double digits, led by forward Erik Jimson's 15-point effort which was followed up by guard Lorenzo Evans with 12 points and forward Jared Noonan with 10 points.
The win propelled the Spartans to a 3-0 record as the team now looks to its next game on Dec. 29 in Grand Rapids.

With the loss, Holy Angels fell to 1-5 on the year with a match-up against Hill-Murray at the Catholic Spirit Tournament at the University of St. Thomas on Dec. 28.

The Richfield boys swimming and diving team closes out the school's pre-holiday varsity schedule with a 6 p.m. meet against Wayzata at Richfield Middle School, while the Holy Angels boys hockey team gets in one final game at Elk River tonight at 7:30 p.m.
